365 Blog-Day 126

Here is everyone at lunch on the 4th! Starting on the left we have: James, Katy, Vonnie and David Perry, mom (taking the picture), dad, Caleb, Maegan, Hannah, Brittany, me, and JJ. Whew! Full table! I love it that way! We all participated in the 4th of July Parade that our neighborhood puts on for the neighborhood next to ours. Most of us rode in a trailer that Caleb and James drove, Maegan, Brittany, and I walked Gus and Quincey, dad rode his bike, and the Perry's drove their old green truck. We had a blast! The kids went swimming and then I headed back to Norman and saw the fireworks show there. The city wide show takes place at the park that is directly across the street from my apartment, so all I had to do was go outside! How cool!

I went to church this morning with Caleb and Maegan and then stayed for second service worship with Katy, James, and the kids. It is so wonderful to worship with those you love! ;)

Dad made ribs for 4th of July celebrations and mom cooked up everything else inside as well as homemade ice cream! Yummy! It was a perfect festival meal. After lunch, I swam with the kids as the adults took naps. Then, they came out and joined in the fun! Maegan, Caleb, and I ended up being objects of entertainment in the pool. They found out that we could launch them and play chicken fight! What more could kids want?! The boys went fishing later that night and JJ caught his first fish! The girls had a sleepover and we watched Gnomeo and Juliet and played Just Dance on the Wii. What a fun day!

I sure do love being home! Dad made his famous breakfast green chile, bacon, cheese, and egg burritos! We also had coffee, orange juice, mango, blueberries, and cantaloupe! It was wonderful! Dad and I worked on scrapping the panelling on the shop to get it ready to sand, caulk, and then paint. It was so hot and I don't know how he does this all summer without having a heat stroke. Mom provided us with ice water and we later took a dip in the pool to cool off. We also collected all the dead day-lillies in the front yard-it is just so hot that everything is dying. A dust-devil picked up a bunch of dead grass and politely dropped it in our pool. Cool. haha So, we had to dip all the grass out. I ended up getting in to get it all so I could stay cool.

I decided since I got off early today (11AM) and since I also have Monday off (4th of July), that I'd come home for the weekend. After getting up around 5 or 5:30 all week, working my first full-time job in awhile, and driving home for 5 hours, I crashed on the couch with my daddy :) Then, we went to dinner at Little Italy-yum! We ended the night with a trip to the dollar theater in Abilene (Westwood Twin Theater) and saw Soul Surfer. It is an excellent movie and is faith-based. If you get a chance to see it-do it! The theater was so nasty though-sticky floors, torn curtains, foam seats that are coming through the fabric, static-y speakers, etc. I guess that's what you get for $1.75. It was definitely an experience though.

Here is a concoction from my parents' garden (zucchini and green pepper). It was fun to cook something from home. Adrianne cooked tortillas, grilled chicken, pico, and guacamole! It was a yummy meal! :)

Adrianne, my new roommate, invited me out for $3 hamburgers and banana bread beer. I know what your thinking...what? gross. Actually, it was very unique and very good! :) Definitely a first. It was fun to meet a few of her friends and have my first night out on the town of Norman and out of my apartment. I even got to watch John Lackey pitch on TV for the Red Sox!
